Drinking While Driving: Second Offense

The second offense gets even worse. After you get caught for the second time the minimum amount of time you have to spend in jail is 5 day, or you can do community service for an alternative. The maximum amount of time you can spend in jail is 30 days. The maximum fine is $5,000 and the minimum fine is $1,000. If you get caught with drinking and driving within 10 years of the first one you license will be revoked for one year and the worst thing is your vehicle becomes impounded.

Drinking While Driving: First Offense

Drinking while driving in New York State has some serious consequences. If you are caught drinking and driving you could under certain circumstances spend up to one year in jail. The first offense isn’t as bad as the second. So hopefully people realize what they are doing and only make that mistake once. The maximum amount you could be fined for $1,000. The minimum amount you could be fined for is $500. Another thing that they can do to you is revoke your license for 6 months. That is only for the first offense.

Driving Under The Influence

Every week you hear on the news that there has been an accident. Have you ever wondered how many of these accidents have been form drunk drivers? In the year 2009 33,808 people have died in traffic crashes. Out of the 33,808 people 10,839 people died because of driving under the influence. Since 1999 the percentage of drinking and driving accidents has decreased 23%. The limit for drinking and driving is .08. His is only for people who are over 21 years of age. Even if you have been drinking and consider driving isn't the greatest idea. For some people there ability to intake alcohol can be greater than another's. People have been drinking and driving even before cars were established. People have been riding animals and drunk. For example there have been drunken horses for farming and elephants for the circus. In the early 1900's people have realized that drinking and driving under the influence was a very dangerous idea. So in the 1900's certain states adopted the idea of putting a law in there state to prevent people from drinking and driving. It took all the way until July of 2004 to have all the states in the United States to have the law that prevents people from drinking and driving.
