Drinking While Driving: Second Offense

The second offense gets even worse. After you get caught for the second time the minimum amount of time you have to spend in jail is 5 day, or you can do community service for an alternative. The maximum amount of time you can spend in jail is 30 days. The maximum fine is $5,000 and the minimum fine is $1,000. If you get caught with drinking and driving within 10 years of the first one you license will be revoked for one year and the worst thing is your vehicle becomes impounded.

  1. I dont the second offense is harsh enough. After the possibility of injuring yourself and multiple other people, the fine should be much higher.

  2. Honestly if someone is stupid enough to drink and drive twice and endanger all of the other drivers on the road, they deserve a much harsher punishment.

  3. I agree with you all. I don't think that the punishment is harsh enough. It actually gets easier on the person after the second offense for jail time.
